Garrod Beckett and Co Ltd (GB) was formed by Paul Garrod who has extensive UK and international commercial experience, and was founded as a result of his experience as a Financial Director dealing with professional accountants.

GB is a focused firm of Chartered Accountants who operate to help small and medium size businesses deal with the hard financial, compliance and fiscal facts of commercial life. GB is service based and our work is based on a knowledge and understanding of our clients. We are not “tick box” accountants: some of our clients have been with us for over 25 years.

Small and Medium size Enterprises are recognized to be the dynamo of U.K. plc.and all Governments encourage Entrepreneurs but all Governments levy penalties and interest for noncompliance with remorselessly expanding laws and regulations.

As examples: forming a Limited Company may result in facing a risk of a criminal record, fines and possible imprisonment for failing to file Accounts. Or run into financial difficulties because debtors are slow in paying and face the consequences of the Insolvency Act.

With criminal law a person is innocent until proven guilty. However if the HMRC makes an estimated assessment the tax payer is obliged to pay the sum or prove it is not payable which is the reverse of the situation in a criminal law.

GB recognises that only large businesses have the resources to maintain full time cover to deal with the issues arising from the financial controls of budgeting, management accounting, corporation and tax compliance, Vat, the preparation of legally compliant Accounts. Naturally our services also include personal tax compliance and planning. We also recognise that the person operating the business requires personal tax and compliance and planning which includes inheritance tax.
